Dear Laura Cline,
I
think that my biggest challenge so far is preparing for the essays, and
forgetting what they should be about. Since the topic and description is given
the week before, I don’t work on it right away so when I see we have an essay
due, I have no idea what it should be about. My biggest success are the topics
on the blog posts, I find them interesting and like doing them.
Analysis
is a lot different from my other essays that I have done in Yavapai College,
mostly because if I read the assignment and proved that I understood the
information, I received an A on the essay. If I gave a good summary and
presented the theme of it, I knew I was fine in the class. Turning in homework
on time helped a lot because I was sure I had at least a B average. In analysis
looking outside of the box is a lot harder because I don’t know what I should
be thinking about or looking for.
For
the second half, I want to better prepared for writing my essays and work on
them different days at a time, not all in one setting. I tend to wait and want
to do it in one sitting. I get frustrated with these essays because of the
analysis factor, because I never really know what to analyze and always feel
like I’m doing it wrong. I think I have a hard time writing these essays
because I don’t relate or connect with what we read. I think that the stories
are too old and the way they are written makes them very boring and I have a
hard time finishing them and grasping the message that I am supposed to get out
of it.
Overall,
I like this online class and like the challenge of it. Also having to interact
with classmates through blog posts is different but I like it.
I think not waiting until the last minute could be very benefical for you because I know doing it all in one sitting could be very stressful.
