Online learning is very different from in class learning, and I think that I learn better and absorb more from my online classes than I do in class. I think that it is so different because I do it on my time and I am able to structure my own order to do weekly tasks. I think that the benefits of taking English online is that you are instantly able to look up outside sources on your subject, and I often find myself reading more on the things covered in the material. Also utilizing the online tutor is helpful for me. In this class, being able to turn in the essay early for grading is also very helpful. Sometimes peer editing is not too helpful for me, and having teachers look over things is sure for getting a better score on a paper. The blogs are my favorite, I haven’t used one prior to taking this class. I like seeing what peers are doing with their blogs, and reading their posts helps me know that I am on the same page with other people. Also the videos are a good way to learn and I can easily go back to points if I missed something, sometimes being in a classroom environment that isn’t too easy to do. I didn’t know about the online tutor until this class, it great that you can submit an essay at any time and have corrections right there for you to fix. I will continue to use it throughout this year at Yavapai College.

  1. I also didn't know about the online tutor until this class! You make such a great point about the scheduling of an online class. Although there are due dates just like in any class, there is much more time for you to be able to learn at your own pace. You can pause lecture videos, or rewatch them, and take as much or as little time as you need for your own personal learning style when reading and working on assignments!

  2. I enjoyed your post as to the online learning environment. You make great points as to being able to look up outside sources for use in the class. I took some courses up in Oregon and remember each desk having a computer terminal. We had the best of both worlds you might say. We could enlist the interaction of other students as well as access the web.
Great Job, keep up the good work!

  3. This is pretty much what I think as well. I find that if I have plenty of time to revise, my posts and assignments don't come out as illegible gibberish. The online tutor is a pretty cool thing they set up for us. I didn't get around to using it at all, but I've been hearing good things. It's good to know it's there if we need it.
