"Bartleby is the hero of Melville’s story in his refusal to participate in a workplace that represents the sad, dreary atmosphere of a bureaucratic, industrialized society. He is the only one standing up to a society that is increasingly oppressive to workers. "

I have chosen to use this thesis, and to go into detail about the work place that Bartleby has to work in. I think that this false identity of Wall Street may be misleading to some people about the success that goes on. Some think that it is all glamorous and all, but I think this defiant main character shows that money may not buy happiness.
If there are any suggestions that you may think that can help me make this a good analysis essay please feel free to help, and I can help provide my take on your work!
Thanks!

I think its great that you picked this thesis. It's something different that a lot of other people aren't using. I also picked a different one other than this. I think your ideas on this topic are interesting. The fact that people can be mislead about what really goes on in Wall Street is a true thing. So this can be a kind of look into the real world of it all. I like your ideas. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great thesis for the book and I think your ideas on it are right on. Money doesn't always buy happiness and I feel like a lot of people get into the business world and expect money and happiness, but end up very unhappy like Bartleby. Good luck on your paper I am sure you'll do great!
ReplyDeleteI chose the same thesis and think that this thesis was the best fit also! Your ideas on the essay are a great idea because they seem to really fit well with the thesis you choose for it! Hope you successfully did your paper!
